The Melekar Chronicles
With a few words and subtle gestures, the campfire erupts into an inferno twice its size, moving towards your foes with a lifeless hunger
Level: Sor/Wiz 5
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Long (400 ft + 40 ft./level)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 min/level, + 1 round/2 levels
Saving Throw: Reflex; see text
Spell Resistance: No
You control the intensity and movements of one fire source. A Large size (10 by 10 foot square) can be manipulated, with the size increasing one category for every 3 additional caster levels (Huge fire at 13th level, Gargantuan fire at 16th level, and Colossal fire at 19th level). You can freely switch between fire sources, or change the nature of your control (intensity or movement) while you maintain concentration, but only one change can be made to the fire per round. When your control over the fire source lapses, that fire maintains the largest size you can animate unless the fire moved beyond a fuel source.
This spell allows you to make a fire move as if it were a living creature. An animated fire moves at a speed of 30 feet as a move action, and this movement sustains the fire, even if it is moved from a fuel source (but winks out if you switch control to a different source, or do not move it back to a fuel source before the spell’s duration elapses).
An animated fire can enter any square, even if a creature already occupies it. If an animated fire enters a square occupied by a creature, that creature can make a Reflex save to get out of the way. A successful Reflex save results in half damage, and the creature does not catch on fire.
The flames deal the indicated damage to any creature that is surrounded by the flames (in the fire’s space); see the accompanying table.
At the start of your turn, the animate fire deals damage to any creature in its space, and the creature catches fire (successful Reflex save halves the damage, and the creature does not catch on fire).
